GRACE HELENE’S CONCEPT
Grace Helene means elegant beauty and was launched with the concept to create interesting and unique jewelry and accessories designed mostly from up-cycled textiles and eco-friendly components. The collection is environmentally adaptable with a distinctive flair, but it’s still feminine, traditional, casual and stylish.
WHAT’S UPCYCLING
It’s a saucy term for reducing, reusing and basically recycling materials that would otherwise be waste that sits on landfills for years, decades or longer. With these unusual resources designers like myself are creating unique and valuable goods without a hint that it was from an old purse, used bicycle inner tubes, you’re grandfathers’ cool tweed coat or a rattan hat found at a thrift shop.
My ongoing collection of statement jewelry called “Converted Beauty” goes well with my eco-conscious mantra, “Any used textile can be created into a stunning and wearable ornament”. Find your style now.
AESTHETIC
My collection integrates design elements that are both classic and casual. It has a multi-dimensional and relaxed loveliness about it. It feels good, it wears good and it’s versatile.
DESIGNER
I’m the “muse” for my collection because I have an instinctive relationship between what I design, how it feels and looks, the overall aesthetic impact and the atmosphere I’d like it to create.
I’m always re-imagining beyond traditional jewelry techniques because the woman who wears my designs has a strong personality; she’s daring and has distinctive style without being forced into a pre-conceived mold or idea when it comes to styling her accessories. She’s able to link pieces from my collection to her wardrobe to create a look that’s bold, elegant and chic, yet stylish and trendsetting.
EVERYDAY
I live in Hackensack, New Jersey and work for a high-fashion photography studio in New York City. I love the city, the people and the culture because it’s constantly evolving and expanding everyday; it’s also one of the most fashionable cities in the world and I’m constantly inspired by everything around me.
BACKGROUND
I have a BFA from Columbia College Chicago, where I received training in fashion, studio art and graphic design.
You can catch up with me blogging or tweeting about my latest projects, tutorials or just stop by to say hello!
